Dr. Alvaro Guzman
Dr. Alvaro Guzman is a compassionate and effective psychiatrist highly skilled in treating mental health and substance abuse patients. He is knowledgeable and capable in the psychopharmacology and psychotherapy of Mood and Anxiety Disorders. His interpersonal and communication skills allow him to work efficiently and empathically with his patients. He continually adds to his knowledge base by staying on top of established and evolving biological, psychological and social sciences. Dr. Guzman has demonstrated a commitment to carrying out his professional responsibilities and his reliability, ethical principles, sensitivity and curious mind make him a warm and caring therapist.
Dr. Guzman’s rich and varied clinical experience goes well beyond his formal Psychiatry training at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington D.C. His interest in research began at the NIH and continued at the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland. His commitment to clinical work with minorities and those with addictive behaviors in combination with his studies in social issues has helped him gain a better and deeper understanding of the human condition.
Dr. Guzman, fluent in English and Spanish, is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Anca G Zinnes

Dr. Zinnes is a graduate of University of Medicine “Carol Davila”, Bucharest, Romania. She completed both an internal medicine residency in Romania and psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC. Her ties to Andromeda go back to her residency years, when, under the guidance of Dr. Galbis, she completed her child psychiatry rotation at Andromeda. She returns after 10 years of being in private practice as a psychiatrist, with the firm belief that the integration of mental health care with general medicine is essential for best outcomes in treating all types of conditions. She is committed to providing her patients with the best of care and to also advocate for their social integration and destigmatization of mental illness.
Dr. Zinnes has expertise in different areas of adult psychiatry, including geriatric psychiatry and substance abuse (suboxone certification), psychotherapy (Fellowship at Baltimore Washington Institute of Psychoanalysis), ECT (Duke University Fellowship), Deep Brain TMS(Sibley Memorial Hospital).
She has admitting privileges at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital.
Dr. Zinnes is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and an APA Fellow.
Mental Health Therapist and HIV/AIDS Program Coordinator
Andrea Agalloco is licensed graduate social worker (LGSW) who completed her Masters of Social Work at Catholic University in May 2015. Prior to pursuing her degree in social work, Andrea spent about 14 years working in non-profit fundraising, event and conference management at Share Our Strength and the Parenteral Drug Association. Originally from New Jersey, Andrea has made Washington, DC her home for the last 15 years. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Jessica Barksdale joined Andromeda on Dec 1 2015. She loves Andromeda's environment starting from the doctor’s to the staff. Healthcare has been her major priority ever since she was 13 years old. She has a huge passion with helping people, and she wouldn’t trade that passion for anything. With perseverance and dedication her goal is to finish college, where she is currently attending “Prince George’s Community College” in order to obtain her RN certification.

Robert Browne is from Washington, DC. He is currently finishing his studies as a Regional Fitness Program Manager at the California University of Pennsylvania. He is an EIS Specialist, a Site Leader for the Grocery plus (CAFB), and a Certified Personal trainer. Robert also completed a ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification at the National Restaurant Association.
Beside sports and being outdoors, Robert enjoys going to bookstores, poetry, good food, and arts and antiques items.
Medical Assistant / Receptionist
Sonia Carrion, originally from Peru, likes to help and educate people. She wrote articles in “El Comercio” (Lima-Peru) newspaper concerning “Alcohol and Substance abuse” and advice for teenagers. She was a Health Promoter for the National Association of Girls Scouts of Peru. She also believes that working in the healthcare field is very gratifying and is planning to continue her education and get a nursing degree. She used to practice martial arts and loves to swim, read, dance and listen to music. Sonia Carrion graduated from Andromeda’s Medical Assistant Training Program and is excited about starting her new career as Medical Receptionist in Andromeda, a great place and environment with amazing people.
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counselor

Mercy Cruz, a bilingual (English and Spanish) physician from Ecuador. She continued her education in the U.S. by obtaining a Certificate Addiction Counselor II in the District of Columbia and later acquired a Master Degree in counseling psychology from the University of Leon. She has over 10 years of experience in working with Hispanic substance users who are dually diagnosed with a mental health condition and have HIV/AIDS. She is accustomed to working closely with psychiatrists and infectious disease specialists and is skilled in formulating multidisciplinary treatment plans.
Medical Billing Specialist
Silvia Figueroa was born and raised in El Salvador and has been working at Andromeda since 1999. She started off as a medical receptionist and is now working as a Medical Billing Specialist. She became certified as a Medical Assistant after completing Andromeda’s Medical Assistant Training Program and is currently attending school to become Billing and Coding Specialist. In her spare time Silvia enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her 3 sons & grandson.

Jalisa Holt is focused on producing change that will have a responsible effect on the world. Beginning as an intern, she sought to engage the community through outreach and educational interactions emphasizing the importance of healthy life practices. Since becoming the PrEP Program Director, Jalisa has built and expanded multiple collaborations with the community throughout the DC metropolitan region, and continues to link persons of need to HIV prevention and treatment services.
Before becoming a PrEP educator, Jalisa obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from Howard University and a MPH from The George Washington University. During her educational tenure, she worked as a research assistant traveling internationally to Barbados, Cape Verde, and Senegal. Jalisa is a native of Chicago, Illinois, but has called the DC Metropolitan area her home since 2008. Outside of work, Jalisa enjoys traveling and shopping, visiting family and friends, and spending time with her two dogs: Tiana and Snoop.
Outreach Specialist / Medical Assistant
Mia Jones has been working at Andromeda for two years as a Medical Assistant and Outreach Specialist. She attended Sanz School where she obtained her Diploma in Medical Assisting. She also attended a Technical Learning Center where she acquired her Certification in Phlebotomy. She enjoys working with people and helping those which are in need of her services. It is very important for her to be a part of the community and to be able to provide its’ members with information regarding HIV.

Norma Lopez has been part of the Andromeda family ever since having had the opportunity to complete Andromeda’s Medical Assistant Training Program in 2007. Everyday her motivation is working with and for the community. This has made her into the person she is today and she doesn’t have any regrets about it, she simply hopes to keep bettering herself and the community through her position at Andromeda.
Juan C. Marsans
Juan Marsans is a native of Cuba and has worked as an IT Coordinator at Andromeda for the past 12 years. He has lived in the DC area for over 50 years and has been a licensed real estate agent and is a licensed financial advisor. He holds a BS degree in Information System Management from the University of Maryland and an Associate’s degree in Computer Science from Montgomery College. Outside of work he enjoys photography and showing dogs.
Dyasi Nash is a certified medical assistant/phlebotomist with more than 20 years of experience in medical settings. She has been working at Andromeda Transcultural Health for the past 7 years under the HIV Ryan White and Primary Care Department that’s benefited countless of patients throughout the years. Her career goal is to keep up with the ever changing rules, regulations, and laws in the medical profession. She continues to strive to make a visit to the doctor’s office a positive and good experience for each patient.

Jacqueise Unonu, a clinical pharmacist, is an employee of the Center of Excellence at Howard University College of Pharmacy and has been working with Andromeda through a grant since 2011. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama receiving an Advanced Academic Bachelor degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2008 from Howard University College of Pharmacy and completed a Post Graduate Year 1 Residency at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has been involved in HIV care since 2007 and precepting fourth year Howard University College of Pharmacy students since 2011 with her service to the College recognized with a Preceptor of the Year Award. She enjoys collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver the best care possible to patients.
